AMBER RULES CHANGE MEANS GO FOR PLASTIC-FREE TRAVEL TOILETERIES
- Revised quarantine rules increases sales of plastic-saving toiletry packs by 800% in a week
- Non Plastic Beach sees surge in demand for “Frequent Flyer” & “Off to the Beach” bundles
- Liquid free shampoo, conditioner & toothpaste are hand luggage, leak free travel solutions
- No water, means lower weight & smaller size to help with widespread reduced hand luggage rules
Last week’s changes to quarantine Amber country quarantine requirements have led to huge surge in demand for plastic-free travel toiletry packs from Oxfordshire-based, Non Plastic Beach. The wholesaler and retailer of plastic reducing products has seen an 800% increase in orders for its “Off to the Beach” and “Frequent Flyer” packs, which feature travel friendly shampoo bars and toothpaste tablets among other plastic-saving items.
The announcement of the removal of requirements for Amber countries and the change to the official FCDO travel advice means millions of people in the UK have started to book holidays and then moved onto what they are taking with them.
With hand luggage restrictions tightening for several airlines, compact and lightweight bathroom products can help reduce the load for a variety of travel needs. A full-size bottle of shampoo weighs 0.5 kg, with an equivalent shampoo bar weighing just 0.07 kg for 50-80 washes use, fits easily into the palm of your hand and importantly, cannot leak.
Regardless of the mode of transport, people are thinking about lightweight, compact, hand luggage friendly toiletries, that also save plastic, as Non Plastic Beach Co-Founder, Nicola Dean explains:
“It doesn’t matter where people are going, or how they get there, cutting plastic is something people are clearly thinking about when they travel. With Non Plastic Beach packs, we are not just looking to save plastic at all costs, the products work just as well, or better as plastic products and they are liquid free, which means they are lighter and hand luggage friendly. They also don’t leak, so you never end up with toothpaste stained trousers or a very fruity iPad and having experienced both; nobody needs that!”
She continued: “We are also finding people like the fact that a shampoo bar and shower soap are a lot lighter and more compact than a bottle of shampoo or shower gel. With the new 2021 rules on smaller hand luggage from several airlines it can really help keep weight/size of your toiletries down.”
Non Plastic Beach has provided toiletries for a variety of travellers and travel businesses, from supporting scientists taking part National Geographic’s #ExpeditionPlastic with bathroom products, to providing the plastic-free toothpaste for Etihad Airway’s historic world’s first plastic-free long-haul flight. Both packs are available from www.nonplasticbeach.com
